Small Adventure (Pico-8 1k jam)

An entry in the Pico-8 1k jam.

It is a short, relatively easy, fully functioned rpg running on pico-8 that compresses down to exactly 1022 bytes.

You are a kobold (or anything really, can be whatever else you imagine.) You have always wanted to be a Dragon Fighter, because they are tough warriors who use martial arts alongside Dragons.

Wander randomly around 6 different locations, and spar with the locals to build up your character. Do not worry, you are doing practice duels against them, no one dies in this game.

When you level up, the opponent you defeat determines your attack gain. Fight at the edge of your abilities to maximize your gain each level. 

But be careful! Push too hard, and you will collapse and go back home instead! Can you train enough to join the Dragon Fighters?

Play by using up and down to select Spar, Find, or Travel. Press X to perform that action. (On mobile, the virtual buttons will help you play.)

Fair warning, you will need to use the pico8 reset cart to start new games. I have no space left for adding new game handling within the jam rules, so the game will just lock up if you win/lose. Reset the cart with the pico-8 menu to start over.
